For my 2 cents... Motorola's expectation was to sell 100k a week considering it's the first phone released under new ownership. Plus, factory calibration wasn't done for the motomaker because being made in america is something that hasnt been done in a while. Considering that the first two weeks was only two carriers selling in one region, and that the last 3 weeks of Q3 was opened to the rest of the region without motomaker. The 500k in 5 weeks is considered a success for motorola. If anything, results may not show until later on because right now motorola is rebuilding its fan base. They didn't expect to have a blowout sell like the iPhone or Samsung. Motorola may not get their name fully out until their next generation because right now they are investing towards the future. I can't wait to see what the Moto X2 or project Ara will be like. For now I am going to enjoy the Moto X and sit back to watch. Who knows... Maybe motorola will be the new apple? After all, I like the direction motorola went with the moto x and g.
