Only Able to Run 5 to 7 Apps At a Time

I have a Samsung Galaxy S6 through T-Mobile. I recently updated it to Android 7. I like it but there's one issue that's been bugging me. On Android 5 and 6, I was able to run 15 to 20 to 40 apps at the same time so I could switch between them very easily. Android 7 is limiting me to 5 or 6, sometimes 7 if I get lucky. Is there somewhere I can change this? I don't care much for this change and would like to go back to running my usual 14 to 16 apps.

If you need anything else, let me know and I'll be happy to provide!

Thanks!

[Update] I was able to fix this. I had to disable the power saving mode that was turned on. I can run more recent apps in my list.

Don't know what you mean by "running". Once you close an app in 7 it goes to recent pile, but may or may not still have associated processes still active. I've seen no 5 or 7 app limit there. At some point, obviously, you run out of physical memory.

My recently used apps pile is limiting me to a very small number, which is what I mean. I was able to have upwards of 25 to 30 in the recent pile, but only have a small handful allowed in Android 7 before it kicks one out.

If I can't change it, I can't change it and I'll just have to live with it. Just find it annoying that something I was able to previously do has been taken away.
