only call sounds only after 4.4 update

Ok...I have tried everything I can think of to get notification sounds but nothing. When I pick one I can hear the sound, but if someone sends an email or text it only shows up in the notification bar no sound alert.

When someone calls I have call volume..

Anyone have suggestions.. I have verified the volumes are up, tuned off Bluetooth just in case..

Settings->sound->volumes. There is a separate volume control for notifications. The volume buttons changes the ringtone volume only.

it does not show assist active.. I did get the messages sounds working.. I installed Verizon's messages..and notification is back. go figure.
Still no sounds on incoming emails though

got emails sounds now... had to use androids sounds and not Zedge's ...don't know why Zedge's sounds wont work?

Yeah I had a similar issue so when I download sounds using Zedge I just move them into the appropriate folder and use them with the stock sound config.
