Op Ed: Google's Looming Pixel 4 disappointment

Same for me or the looks are the same as the renders I'll get it. But if the internals are not upgraded and I don't mean the chip bc we know the processor will as always but I'm referring more to the Ram. At lest 6gb. I still get apps closing when I use the camera. Not as bad but still happens.
While it makes sense to go to 6GB, its unlikely that the issue you mention with some apps still closing is due to the physical amount of RAM. There are some Samsung devices with higher RAM experiencing apps stopping or force closing. It's usually aggressive battery management.

You are probably right. On my pixel 2 xl with the same 4gb of ram and older processor never had app closing issues.

Did you see that picture of a pixel 4 in the wild?
Looks like Moment lenses will work fine based on the case that was on it

Yeah I saw that. I like how they were able to cover around the sensors instead of keeping the entire camera bump exposed.

I don't want to go to far off topic, but which lenses do you have? I have wide, anamorphic and telephoto. I also have the Moment app, which you really need for anamorphic if you want to use it seamlessly.

I've been saying for a while that the Pixel is basically Googles attempt to copy the iPhone at every turn. The problem is, if you hold each of these phones in one hand, it is glaringly apparent which feels and looks like a premium device and which one does not. For a company like Google to be going after Apple, I do not understand why they make their phones look and feel like a budget phone.

Agreed. But most will say those buying the Pixel line are mostly interested in the software and camera experience. I honestly wish they could improve on their hardware. The phones just don't feel premium when held. Aside from the dated design at the time the OG Pixel felt solid.
After seeing the most recent leaks of the Pixel 4 I'm not impressed. Oh well.

I can't say the S10 plus feels anymore premium than my 3XL and I have the ceramic version. Add to the that the fact that most case their devices anyway so it makes little difference.

I love the pixel 3 back. Love the feel and love the look I'm going to miss it. Only part of the phone I would of changed was the notch. I'm used to the notch and doesn't bother me much but would prefer not to have one. The new pixel 4 line up look good too but I actually enjoyed the pixel 3 xl build quality.

I guess some prefer shiny backs.

Honestly compared to the latest Samsung stuff my pixel 3 feels just as good for whatever that's worth.
I will say my xs "feels" nicer or more premium . But again that don't mean much to me. I get business done with the software not the feel.

All that being said I've noticed more little software glitches with my s10 than I've ever had with any other smart phone lately.
But to be fair my gf daughter dropped her pixel 2 yesterday from maybe 2 foot ( she's 10 and had it in her hand while walking ) it landed face down shattered the screen protector , phone was in the Google earth case , screen was fine BUT screen no longer turns on .

I've never seen that with any of my Samsung stuff , does that mean Samsung has better build quality ? Maybe who knows .
For me I could care less about notch or feel or bezel size , I'm worried about loud speakers for conference type calls , good microphones for same , battery life , SIGNAL , wifi signal , Bluetooth signal . Screen brightness , camera performance , software stability , those are the things that make or break a phone to me.

I mean really, what does it matter about looks anyway? 99.9% of us will have some sort protection. I've never fully gone 'full monty' with any of my phones. Even in the Flip Phone days...

I agree as long as there is not some crazy like a huge notch, I use a screen protector and Tech 21 or Moment case on all of my phone's, so they all kind of look the same and feel the same in the hand.

You never know what can happen during a drop. Maybe the screen connector came loose. You should still be covered by the 2 year warranty unless they can visually see drop damage.

Double check that credit....sometimes they have an expiration date

Edit:.....I see you found out....yeah they suck that way. I just bought something I didn't really need with a credit. They would not even let me use to preorder Stadia.

Exactly what they want. You bought more so more profit and you didn't even need it lol

I don't know about the XL but the regular 3 felt pretty cheap to me.

Well the only real apparent difference between the Pixel and Samsung is the lower half of Pixel's glass back has a Satin finish which gives it a different feel. The frame is painted metal as opposed to plated which feels about the same. The power button on the Pixel is plastic if that matters.
Most of us use a case. If i recall correctly you like skins.

Yeah I just can't get used to phone cases. I wish I could, I recently dropped my iPhone for the first time ever and the screen cracked. Had a screen protector on it too, so it just fell and hit at that perfect spot where it would crack.
