I stopped by BestBuy today so my wife could pick out a case and screen protector for her new iPhone 7. While there, I decided to take another look at the Huawei Nexus 6P running Android 7.0 Nougat. Man, I really like that phone!
BUT: I did a quickie comparison to my OP3 and my OP3 blew away the 6P in virtually every app I opened in terms of opening speed. Now it wasn't night and day difference, but the difference was significant, which I presumably can attribute to the difference in the SoC. Interestingly, opening the camera was about the same speed between the 2 devices, which was almost instant. I didn't have time to compare how long it took to take a picture, and perhaps that is where I might find a difference.
I really would have liked Huawei to have updated the 6P for 2016 as the 2016 Nexus with the latest Soc, better (faster in operation camera, waterproofing, etc.). Had they done so, I would have bought one and most likely would have never discovered how great the OP3 is. Instead, once I discovered the leaks and rumors about the Pixel were true, I ordered my OP3 on Pixel day and got it about 3 weeks later.
