Open links from Text Messages with Chrome

Yes same problem. I don't even mind it opening a link in its own mini browser from the messaging app but anytime I click on a link, the page is blank even though you can see the loading progress bar at the top. It completes the load but still blank white. Arg.

Update:
It is a Android System Webview issue. I force stopped then disabled. It reverts to the shipped version. 49.0.2623.105

Re-enabled. Works, page loads no blank screen.

If I update it to the latest version, 52.0.2743.98, goes back to blank.

I'm frustrated with this same issue on an S6 Edge+... One work around I found after hitting the link is to swipe down from the top of the page to minimize the link and swipe it back up and the link should work

Rotating the device works, but it seems faster to simply grab the title bar and move it down slightly and then back up. At least that works on my Note 5.

Can you explain how to do this? I have a Galaxy S6, I force stopped the message app but it didn't change anything.
Thanks!

Android System Webview got an update, and it fixed the issue for me. I can open links in the Messaging app again.

Yeah, looks fixed as far as sites now loading properly but there is still no option to have links open in Chrome instead of the cheap pop-up browser.

none of these have worked for me. is anyone else still experiencing this issue? i disabled webview, disabled google in app setting, cleared all defaults, sms links still open in stock browser on s7 active running 6.0.1

None of the solutions above worked for me. It seems that Samsung deliberately makes it impossible for you to use their browser.
What I finally did was replace Samsung Messages app with Android Messages

None of the above worked for me either, But I DID FIGURE OUT A WORKAROUND. I use Andmade Share Pro (the do have a free version *linked* But I say buy it to support GOOD, UNOBTRUSIVE developers, But I digress...)
Anyway, whether you have previews on or not, click the link in the stock SMS app. (Also, I'm not changing & messing with my default text messaging app. Screw that)
It opens up in the in-app-browser. Fine.
Click "Share."
With Andmade Share, you easily order the types of apps you share with. So put Chrome towards the top of the list.
To recap, link > in-app-browser >Share > via Chrome.
Yes,it's an extra two clicks. But there ya go.

(Using samsung j7 2016)

Check out "Andmade Share"
