Who added that stupid Open with banner when you visit the site?
It asks if you want to open with Tapatalk or Continue with Browser. (Sh)Reddit does the same with open in their app or continue with Browser.

Is it just one click and a first world problem? Yes but it's an annoyance that wasn't there before.

Where do you see that ?

Maybe because I'm logged in both apps and browser reasons I don't see it but nothing wrong with a banner giving option how do you want to access the site ?

Must have been a glitch or admin changing something. I can't replicate it now, not even on a new browser and IP.

Choice is fine. The issue with the banner which reddit may or may not have fixed and my concern with AC doing it, it popped up on an irregular basis. Tell me once until I clear my cache and cookies and then remember the decision.

If I wanted to visit AC with Tapatalk I'd open Tapatalk and not be on my browser. Same as the example with reddit. You asked me once, I'm "now aware there's an app, if I were new)" I selected browser, respect it stop asking.
There are other sites that use that banner in that manner but reddit came to mind.

So again, my fear was that if the banner was implemented, it would be like every other site constantly asking

"Do you want to use the browser that you are visiting our site with or the app you have installed?"

Regadless I guess since it seems to have been a fluke and not an intentional implementation, I can go back to happy thoughts.

Edit: Didn't see your multiple posts, it popped up when visiting the forum via direct link.

Yeah definitely should work like that if you selected an option it shouldn't ask anymore.

Happened again. Doesn't show up on the main forum but if you open a thread. If you hit back to go to the main forum it's gone, if you select a different thread it pops up again. And won't go away until you select a choice and presumably based on the other day, it will remember for x#days before popping up again.

(And my browser cache/cookies are not to blame, verified I have not cleaned since the last post about this).

So it is not respecting/remembering user choice. 1000107747.jpg

It has happened to me on a number of occasions as well. So far, I haven't been able to figure out a logical pattern to it.

But it's a new phenomena for you as well though right? It didn't start until relatively recently?

I didn't really pay attention to when it started, but I can say that it gained my scrutiny fairly recently and before your original post.

@Almeuit or @Laura Knotek do you have contact with the admin to inquire?

I looked at all the big-wig mods (including mustang above) and none of you are following an admin which leads me to believe their account is entirely hidden or only visible to mods, so I can't tag them directly.

Your issue is a Tapatalk issue. We've disabled the banner on our end, if it's not respecting your choice, that's something to address with Tapatalk as if you delete the app, you'll no longer be asked. We have no control over that portion.

But I don't have nor have I ever used it. Well I did years ago to test but hated it. Also that's not the icon for my browser in my screenshot so I don't know where or why it's coming from then

On my Samsung I have 1 default which is chrome but some people use more than 2 3 browsers and don't realize one of them is default and check the browser your using can open links

If everything checks out on your end after checking these go to settings and reset app preference and it will ask again open with and see if it's correct

I have 3, Chrome, Cromite, Kiwi, sometimes Samsung Interner. None have an icon like that which means it's the site pulling up a generic icon box.

Happens on S23 Ultra and Tab S8 Ultra.

I've also tried Gecko based browsers rather than chromium and same thing

You think resetting app preferences is worth a try?

I can/will try that but again I don't have Tapatalk (nor ever have had it on these devices) so I don't know what that will change bedsides potentially broken link handling between the listed browsers.

Ill PM you this question because its not appropriate to post publicly.
