I am up for a new phone and am torn between waiting for the supposed Quad core monster HTC is supposed to be releasing to Verizon, getting the SIII or a Rezound.

How is the phone? I have an Incredible now and it is awesome but I need a new toy.

You'll be waiting till November for something newer. If screen size is no issue, go with the SGIII. It's newer, has a ton of dev support (if your into that sort of thing) and will get upgraded to Jelly Bean way before the rezound does. If you don't like that big of a phone, then the Rezound is the only game in town (imo) on a sub 4.5" phone.

The bottom link says the rumored quad core phone would be equipped with ICS. With Jelly Bean released, why would a new phone several months down the line ship with ICS and not Jelly Bean? If this is the case, this is precisely why HTC is in financial trouble at home. Mobile phone companies need to be on the cutting edge at all times and it would be dumb for HTC to release any new phones without Jelly Bean because it is already here!!

Android

I am glad I am not due for an upgrade now, because I would not know what to do. I would not want to wait 18 months for a system update. That being said, the Rezound is a great phone (with the exception of its battery), and ICS is pretty cool too!

If it was me, I would see about purchasing something used (off Craigslist, for example) and save your upgrade for now. With all the phones on the market being pretty much aging or rehashed technology, it seems an upgrade is precious commodity, IMHO anyway.

Maybe head to your local big red store and play with a few devices, figure out what phone suits you best, then look for a used version. Best of both worlds.

In my area decent used, like-new Rezounds can be had for around $180-$200, which I believe is the upgrade price right now anyway. Not sure if your area has a large Craigslist user base, but if so may be a good option. A lot has changed since your DINC, get out there a find which device is best for you!

BTW, since you asked for opinions, I love the Rezound. Had a DINC, then DINC2, then iPhone 4S, which I traded for the Rezound when I realized how much I hated iOS. I had a lot of trade options and I liked the Rezound the best of all of them. Getting ics a couple weeks after the trade was just icing on the cake. So in my opinion, a used Rezound would be your best choice.

I bought my rezound off craigslist and have never regretted it. Love it. (my only gripe would be the battery, but there are options to help with that)That being said, you are asking in a rezound forum so I'm guessing mist folks are gonna say rezound. I truly love my rezound, but if I were buying today I moat likely would get the SGS3.
One more thing....in the tech game it is sorta pointless to wait for the next great thing, because there will always be something else around the corner so you'll always be waiting

Since I have had both phones, the sgs and the rezound, I would stick with the rezound. I am actually gonna get rid of the sgs if I can find a sucker.... . Er... Umm.... Buyer

Didn't you just get the sgs3?

I'm curious as well why you don't like it. It seems like it should be better, and I would almost trade you straight up, but not if it takes a sucker to do so!

I have both the Rezound and the S3. When I got the S3, it made the Rezound look like it came out in the 80's... haha! ok not that bad but still the S3 sports 2gb of ram and the screen is big and sharp. I love the S3! Its the best phone I bought so far!

I'd buy used if I trusted the seller. If not, I'd just wait til later in the year when a new phone with JB is released.

I love this Rez, but I would not spend money on an ICS device now that we see how superior JB is.

It's worth noting that a couple devs at X-ray Delta Arsehole seem to be pretty close to releasing a JB ROM that is safe if you're S-on.

A used, off-contract Rez sounds pretty sweet right now.

Rezound is still HTC's flagship device for Verizon (even tho they don't treat it that way) and I don't see that changing until at LEAST the holidays! So I would recommend looking at something used (if you just HAVE to get a new phone now) otherwise I would wait. With all the rumors of new Nexus devices and HTC's sequel to the Rezound, I've got a feeling this winter and early next year is going to have a lot of surprises in the mobile industry.

For used I would recommend getting the Rezound unless you just want a bigger screen. IMO, its still hard to beat the Rezound with its HD display, Beats enhancements, and not to mention the camera is absolutely STUNNING (I'll post a link to one of my dropbox folders with some examples)

I love the Rezound and everything. Like I have an unholy fascination lol. But I would wait until the holidays to see what comes around the corner and make sure that it has a good dev community. If you were to get one I know you could find a good deal used and not have to burn an upgrade.

What don't you like about the GSIII? At least in my usage, the GSIII ran smoother, had better battery life. Only downside is the screen, the rezound screen is a beauty. The GSIII is still good though and the larger screen is better for my eyes.

I know some don't like touchwiz (easy fixed with launcher) and the build quality some say isn't as good though in my experience, all 3 or 4 of my Thunderbolt and rezound creaked at the extended battery cover.

IMO, after today the rezound sucks. Went to Verizon today after being there yesterday, BC of the same issue I've had since I bought the phone. 5 rezounds later and I still have the same problem. At one point in time I would suggest this phone to anyone but it isn't all that great.

The Rezound is a great phone, though as was suggested you're better off finding one used as opposed to using a 2yr upgrade for a phone that VZW & HTC have basically forgotten about. How about the slightly smaller DINC 4G LTE? The DINC 4G has the new S4 processor along with the lighter Sense 4.0 OS overlay, which the Rezound will never officially receive

I was just given the Rezound as a replacement to having Thunderbolt issues. I am a long time Android and HTC fan. I really like this phone. I know everyone wants the latest and greatest. I am not a Samsung phone fan. It is personal choice. This is a great device

Nice pics and let's not forget that the Rezound does great with videos as well!

You must not be meant to have a Rezound. Sorry to hear you have had all these problems. :'(

If you have had 5 Rezound with the same problem, you are probably better off asking to switch to another phone. I was able to get the droid Razr Maxx as a warranty replacement for my rezound, of course, ymmv.
