Oppo shutting OnePlus Down

It is hard for phone companies that actually innovate and build a following to sustain against larger companies. RIP OnePlus.

I thought Huawei was going to really crack the US market are there Pixels that were released but that died quickly. I hope OnePlus doesn't suffer the same fate. Their presence gives consumers the best bang for the buck.
Definitely hope One plus keeps it going we need more phone manufacturers, it can't just be Google/iPhone/Samsung the main ones.

I don't think anyone wants a good company fail. I'm hoping Oppo/OnePlus can survive and remain relevant even if it's on a smaller scale. There's more than enough room in the market.

I'm no tech industry expert, but I would guess that the economics of smartphones make it very difficult to sustain a company that only makes phones (and maybe a few other accessories). High end phones are probably a loss leader (especially if a company is compelled to design and release a new phone every year). Companies like Apple, Google and Samsung are able to make it work because (a) they're gigantic, and (b) they're focusing more on the ecosystem, and the phones are more of a portal into that ecosystem. But if you have a company that's just making phones, where else are they going to get revenue from a user once they've bought the phone?
