Question OPPO Storage Space

What is really contained in the green-colored "Others" section of my OPPO phone's storage and where do I find it? I'm scratching my head about this issue and I'm worried about the decreasing space but I feel helpless.

Not to mention that Chrome is a pain in my head because ever since I discarded it in favor of Firefox, Chrome bloated up rapidly, compared to back when I used it, where it remained consistently low in size. I'm still unsure whether I should just clear everything from Chrome to reclaim lost space.

Are apps the main culprits of the "Others" section occupying a large swath of storage, or is it something hidden from my sight?

When I tap "Other" in the Files by Google app, it shows primarily backup files for messaging apps (e.g., WhatsApp). Can you see what files show up if you tap "Other" using Oppo's file manager? If not, installed Files by Google and see what shows up in that category.

Chrome has long been a memory and storage hog, but I think many browsers act that way. You can free up some of the space periodically by clearing the app cache, but the app data will also build up with use over time. The amount of storage used by Chrome should plateau at some point (i.e., it won't keep going up and up and up without limit) -- for me, it's stable around 2-3 GB.

@B. Diddy... Where in Google Files do you find the category 'Other'? My Google Files only shows downloads, images, videos, audio, documents, apps & internal storage &c.

Btw, the Startpage browser—that I've been using for approx 15 years—has only built-up 353MB of data over the last 21 months on my S23+.

Oops, sorry, I meant the system settings, in the Storage menu. If you tap Other there, it actually opens the Files app, but the directory that shows up actually isn't directly available if you start with the Files app in the first place.
