I clicked on the wrong drive letter to format my sd card as I was doing a device wipe.
Phone seems to boot fine as I canceled as the format was initiailizing.
However PC is saying I need to format it...

the phone internal memory or the card?

if it says it needs to format it, do it through the phone's settings, not windows.

neither the phone itself.....
It shows the normal two drive letters in windows and I clicked on the wrong one which is the 6.6gb and started.
Realized I clicked on the wrong one and now at my wits end.

Can you see any data on the 6.6 on the phone?

Edit - I meant can you see data using the phone filemanager? Not using Windows.

you might have to reformat it using the phone. I was hoping you could see any data that was on there from the phone so you could at least e-mail some stuff to yourself.

Sorry man. Hope there was nothing mission critical on that partition.

nope I had backed everything up prior to doing this spring cleaning but on the phone with tech support and cannot get the device to see the internal phone storage......

Let us know what the solution is from Tech Support. This would be handy for the future.

Good Luck

I am up and running.
I had to format the memory in the phone.
Stupid mistake by me was I was trying to reformat the memory in the phone while it was connected via usb so it kept reporting as unavailable.
Even then, it wasn't working.

What we did was try to take a photo and it defaulted to the sd card because no internal memory was found.

Took out the mem card.

Then I tried taking a photo and it wouldn't let me. After a few seconds an error message popped up saying that the internal memory needed to be formated.
I hit yes and am up and running!

THANKS!!!!

What do you use to back everything up? Only real important thing to me is my contacts and the VZ Backup does that for me...

I use app brain for the apps and also periodically save my memory card to my pc....
I am backup everything all the time LOL....I have 3 backups that run on my pc, plus hard copies of files, etc.
I even have a hard drive by my front door in case of a fire.....grab that then go back for the cats. :)

Don't worry you can't format the phones actual storage through windows. It's a Linux partition in Ext3. All you can see and format is the ~6GB of windows partition you can see as a drive. Any files that were there for the OS will regenerate once your phone reboots. So don't worry yourself!

*Edit
One thing it will effect is any folder that apps create and use as storage. So in other words you can mess up some apps potentially but not the OS. Windows can't read or see the linux partition.

With all your backing up etc, it would probably do you good to root your phone and start using titanium backup.
