I noticed after I installed ICS every time I restart or do a battery pull the phone says optimizing 1 of 84 and so forth until it completes as if it's reinstalling ICS every time. I wanted too know if there was a way to reinstall ICS without wiping the phone to rid myself of this problem. I already spoke with tech support and they said they can't psh the OTA update again and since I'm on a Mac I can't reinstall it from there site, thigh if I did that it would wipe the phone which I don't want to do. So if anyone had any suggestions I would appreciate it.

I don't think there is a fix for this, because many of us have this problem. From what I heard, this "normal" for ICS. I'm not happy about it either.

This is not normal for ICS, this is how ICS says it runs, when in reality, its just building a dalvik cache again. You see, stupidly enough, everytime you shut down your phone, the dalvik cache gets wiped clean off, as if stored on RAM. So when you reboot the phone, you get the message "Optimizing app ## out of ##" with the wait being longer with the more apps you have installed. There is a way to stop it: flash a custom ROM. My advice: flash the one I have, along with the Kernel. WildChild's Illuminati Series for the Vivid. Literally looks stock, just with tweaks and roots and a different boot image. Check it out or email me at OperationA7X@gmail.com for screenshots of WCX if you're interested.

I've considered this, but once a phone is rooted / loaded with a custom image, isn't all official support and warranty voided?

Not if you have the RUU and know how to relock the bootloader. ;-)
