Having issues with trying to get my phone to install custom cwm 5.0.2.7. Phone already rooted. Any ideas of wat im doin wrong. Now my phone won't even go into the recovery setting for some reason. Won't do factory and I still haven't been able to install custom cwm. Do I need a cpu to install custom cwm bc I have all the downloads that it require. If there's anyone who can help I would be greatful

Absolutely do NOT factory reset after rooting.

Btw, rooting should not affect recovery at all.

How did you flash the recovery?

Funny thing is that I'm still able to use the phone and do watever I want. Jus when I hold the three buttons like it said in the forum it blinks then comes right on. It used to go into the recovery with no problem. I think did something wrong. Any ideas

Yes. I don't believe CWM Rom Manager works with the Q chipset. Good thing you didn't factory reset - you'd have a brick.

When I flashed recovery on my regular Optimus, I used Joey Krims flash image GUI in the play store. That should work for the Q, I'm pretty sure. I would use that to flash the recovery. Make sure you select the "flash recovery" option.

This should still work even witj my phone already being rooted right?

No you can download the app here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1730627

It's basically an app that gives a GUI interface for flash_image.

When you open it it should recogize your Q. Then choose the recovery image you want to flash, and then select "flash recovery" NOT "flash kernel." Presto! You'll have a custom recovery loaded.

If you can't enter recovery, what you should try is holding down the 3 buttons to enter recovery. Just as soon as you see the LG logo, immediately RELEASE the buttons. Sometimes, if you keep holding down all the buttons it will boot straight into Android. :)

Are there any steps that I got to go by

No, it's a GUI, graphical user interface. Just download the app, install, make sure you have the CORRECT recovery file downloaded. Then select that file and choose "flash recovery. " it should give you a msg saying you flashed it correctly. Got it?

Ok I'm checking it and it says my device is not compatible

I've tried that one and still didn't go into recovery

It's possible that you actually didn't flash it correctly. Did you type in all the commands into a terminal emulator?

Did any error messages pop up, or did all the commands run smoothly?

It would be odd if you flashed a recovery but it's not there. Pretty unusual.

Errors came up but I continued with the commands.

Yeah. That's a problem. If you get errors in any stage, it won't work.

If you type "su" and get an error, that means you are not rooted correctly.

Also, when you move the "flash_image" file to your SD, make sure it is unzipped first. You need the unzipped file.

Make sure you type in all the names correctly. You also MUST type the commands from the same directory where the recovery is located.

Example: if you move the VM701 recovery file to the directory /mnt/sdcard/downloads, then you must be in /mnt/sdcard/downloads when you type the "flash_image" command.
