Optimus T Unlocked for ATT question.

Hello,
My wife currently has an non-smartphone and is under her dads Att family plan with No Data service.
I recently bought her an LG Optimus T (still in the mail) and will unlock.

My question is, will they automatically up charge her service since she now has an android smartphone? Thanks in advance.

They will be able to sniff the phone's model off the IMEI, but I would be surprised if they forced an upgrade since she's not using data.

On TMO, many android devices are sniffed and some of the URLs for prepaid are restricted/different for smartphones. I just use wifi and don't worry about it.

As soon as she uses the phone for calls or anything. Att will know what kind of phone you are using. If it shows up as a smartphone, it will automatically add on the data plan.
