Okay, so I still have my Optimus v and it is running surprisingly strong. My questions are, what would be the best rom to use for battery life? It currently is only a wifi hot spot since I upgraded to the Galaxy Note 2. It's on page plus and I can only get 1x kn it. :/ I decided to just go with the chespest plan available. Well, 250 MB of data isnt enough. I decided to keep the v and use it as a hot spot. Which, works well but only lasts two hours off the charger. Which, I think isn't horrible considering it id two years old and I don't have an extended battery.
Another question, how can I get it to run 3g connection with the screen off? My screen has to be on in order for the 3g connection to work. Which, in theory is great for battery life. Just not the way I am using it.

Before anyone offers a solution of getting an actual hot spot, there is no way I'm going to lose the 25 buck a month plan that I'm grandfathered into.

Also, does anyone habe suggestions as far as extended batteries go? Ive seen some on Amazon and ebay that are 3500 and 3600. If there are bigger available. Point me in that direction!

A major feature I miss is auto correct of my v. As you can tell, the note 2 doesn't have it.

Wifi Tethering with screen off has been fixed with another rom. The old rom I was using had a built in feature that killed my 3g signal when the screen was off.

I hope your not using an absurd amount like 25gb+. I heard they'll cancel your account or something like that if you do it monthly.

Nah. Just the occasional pandora and Web surfing. I have wifi and at my mother in laws. So, I pretty much am connected to wifi most of the time.

And how the heck coukd I use that much on a 3g connection? Im pretty sure that little OV would burn up with that mucb data going through it, haha

One month my ov sat under a heatsink tethering nonstop. It was quite cool (both in temperature, and awesomeness)

Just an update, (I made a new thread for the extended battery I bought), but since I originally posted here, I thought I would update it here also. I bought a 10 buck battery off of ebay (3600 mah) just to test out. I'll be giving my thoughts in yhe other thread about it after going through a few charging cycles.

It is now used as a wifi hot spot and pandora. Once I completely wiped the phone and just installed pandora, pandora runs smoothly. I used to use my pandora app on my Note 2 while using the OV as a hot spot. Which worked well, it just murdered the battery and was difficult to keep running because 3g kept turning off when the screen was off.

Which, I have found is still an issue, it just isn't as bad as it was. If you have any advice on how to keep 3g running with the screen off, that would be awesome.

Wifi turns off on screen off (or it used to) by default. Idk about 3g though. Never experienced that on my mytouch, ov, or evo v

You can set the WiFi to never sleep so it stays on when screen turns off.
3G is on even with screen off.

I use the MiRaGe ROM. I have no internet connection for my Desktop other than my phones hotspot. Never had a problem with 3G turning off when screen turns off.
