I know its possible to run optimus v roms on the optimus s (an xda thread had a conversion file to make a specific v rom run on the s) I have tried it with Bumblebee rom but unfortunately it did not work completely, it booted but wouldnt display anything but a back-lit black screen. I could lock it and turn the volume up and down (it played the up and down tones) but that was all.

My question is what must be changed to make it run properly? I know they are the same device except the hardware buttons, but since it didnt work i assume there must be more differences im not aware of.

Attempting to flash some different kernels
Xionia Redux allowed it to boot. Will test further

I used picaticks 0.7
and stock VD modified.kernel worked
no coversion done here
to get mms working goto /system/build.prop
edit virgin mobile to sprint and home operator values to 310120 I believe it was =)
use buttoneremapper or edit it in system user keylayout
the thunder kl is the one u want.

You have to be careful as well becuase they use different LCDs for both models witich means different drivers, that might be causing the LCD to not turn on properly

I believe the different lcds was the problem. Im attempting to build the kernel for our phone now

oh yeah, that's correct, sorry I don't subscribe to threads!
can you tell me.. is it possible to read nv items from the phone itself?
i have no pc, and can I hexedit/write the nv items, if so I'll gladly PM you what I do.

Well i build it but didnt even bother testing it. 606kb and a lot of errors. I did modify the config file to build the proper display
