You can just turn off the sig verification and try again.

only have reboot system, apply sd card, wipe data and wipe cache

can I disable sig verifi elsewhere in the phone settings?

Sorry, I know I have seen that before in the recovery but not now

You can just turn off the sig verification and try again.

ASR

the one mmarz walked me thru installing after things went haywire!

I haven't seen the stock recovery in ages but with so little options almost sounds like it. What does it say at the top of the recovery screen? Should tell you what recovery it is.

Try placing the rom onto your sdcard without renaming it or anything. Then go into "flash zip" in your recovery and select the zip file. If that still causes the sig error. You can disable signature verification from inside the "flash zip" menu inside your recovery.

ok didnt work when I didnt rename the file..same sig error

as for any flash zip menu...unless Im missing something...

I only have reboot system now, apply sd card update.zip, wipe data/factory reset and wipe cache partition

no flash zip menu

Android System Recovery <3e>

I assume that's the stock recovery as I have used every other recovery possible for our phones and have never seen that one. Download another recovery, i advise xionia .4 or .6 as they can do every flash rom, and put that on your phone with his steps. Then again I'm not that great at this stuff so maybe PM Mmarz or wait for his reply.

You need to flash the recovery again. You are on the stock recovery. Not sure why. The file I gave was the xionia recovery. I just double checked

Buckie, just curious if you got it working or still having trouble.
Hope it's all fixed up.

Still working on it! Just finished worked so, was trying to do things in between work and so on..done with work now and will waste some more time on this now.

If I figure out who/what caused this (one of the kids)...putting them up for adoption

Ok, just kidding

now then, I went and downloaded another recovery (xionia_cwma_12518.6) and flashed it...went right back to the same stock recovery I been dealing with all day.

Question, do I have to go thru each of these steps below..again to flash a new recovery or just the last steps to flash the recovery?

I did the flash the recovery steps below in bold this time and it came back to same recovery

Place the file flash_image inside the /system/bin folder and set the permissions:
Code:

adb remount
adb push flash_image /system/bin
adb shell
su
chmod 777 /system/bin/flash_image

Or through terminal emulator (app from the market) after copying flash_image to the SD card:
Code:

su
mount -o remount,rw -t yaffs2 /system /system
cat /sdcard/flash_image > /system/bin/flash_image
chmod 755 /system/bin/flash_image

Once you have that binary in place, you can flash a new recovery after placing the recovery onto the SD card and naming it vrecovery.img:
Code:

adb shell
su
flash_image recovery /sdcard/vrecovery.img
reboot recovery

Terminal emulator:
Code:

su
flash_image recovery /sdcard/vrecovery.img
reboot recovery

If you haven't changed your rom and are still rooted, then you'll still have flash_image in your /system/bin folder. You can skip ahead to the part where you do:

Code:
su
flash_image recovery /sdcard/vrecovery.img
reboot recovery

Man, I appreciate the help you and the others have given but, this thing is about to get tossed in the lake.

Ok, I downloaded the new recovery. I changed it to vrecovery.img...put into sd card and ran terminal emulator commands again...and again..it returns to the stock recovery.

Son of a.....it took 4 times but, well, now I have the Xionia CWMA v1.2518.6

Ok, before I move forward here...if my goal is to return this to stock just so I can activate it and then re-root/flash it again...all I need to do is download the stock rom..which I think I have...change it to update.zip...put on the sd card and then flash...correct?

Im hesitant to ask this but, here goes. Is there any other/better way to activate this phone than what Im about to do?

Congrats...I'd have tossed mine by now lol.
At no point was I ever able to get the term emu to flash my recoveries.
Thank god for mmarz and his flashable recoveries lol.

You can activate the phone with any Froyo rom (Stock, Harmonia, Reborn, Bumblee, Rodimus...), and it doesn't matter that you are rooted. You can still activate the phone. You'll never have to root again now that you have a working recovery installed. Keep this recovery and never change it. No matter what happens, you can fall back to it and install any rom including the stock rom.

you have no idea...well, maybe you do, its a good thing those kids are at their grandparents until Sunday...they and the phone would be outta here.

and yes, mmarz is a godsend..and there are others that helped out as well, thanks to them too

Ok, let me play devilsadvocate here. If I had it flashed with the CM7 from when I first got it for them, it would not allow me to activate it. I tried online..did that...and tried on the phone and it wouldnt take. Reading on the net led me to believe I had to take it back to stock....was I mistaken?

Also, any clue/idea what happened to the original recovery on it or caused this to be such an issue? Im just wondering but, I am sure they either screwed with the sdcard or tried to do something they were told not to...just wondering so I can prevent that from happening in the future.

I have to say, this has been a learning experience and well, probably a good one. My company will be throwing BBs away come next month and moving to Android...based a lot on my input (go figure how smart they are eh?)

So, Im sure I will be crying somewhere else on this forum soon.
