I'm beyond livid with this Android 10 / Android Auto issue. Releasing something so obviously flawed is inexcusable.

I'm seeing the following options:
1. Wait until it's fixed. Given it has been going on for, what, a month....who knows how long they'll let it keep being in place.
2. Sell my S9 and get another phone. (I own it free and clear and it's unlocked - so easy solution basically....but it's a PITA.)
3. Root the S9 and regress to an earlier Android version.
4. Move to Apple. (I had an iPhone for work once and hated it. But holy cow....if Android/Samsung are willing to do what they've done my confidence goes way down in what might happen down the road.)

I'm mostly posting about option #3. While I'm reasonably technical I know *nothing* about rooting Android devices. Is rooting and downgrading a reasonable approach or should I just abandon the idea?

How are others impacted by this dealing with it? Anyone rooted and downgraded?

Thanks!

Jim

You do not have to root to go back to Android 9. You can download the last Android 9 version (From Sammobile) and install with ODIN. That way, you do not have to deal with the ramifications of a rooted phone (ie no Samsung pay). (Directions here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?reload=9&reload=9&v=CdTT4cEUWc4) NOTE: You WILL have to set up everything again as the option to save your settings using CSC Home is one that has bricked phones. Follow the directions in the video.

To answer your question as to how I am dealing with it, I am using my S8+ that I kept for emergencies until I hear that there is an update. Supposedly there is a change in the works. https://support.google.com/androidauto/thread/26362828?hl=en&msgid=32217323
