Hey all, I have a 3G phone and was planning on ordering the nexus online cause i didn't wants reps messing with my accounts and stuff. Is there any extra hassle I have to go through with the lte phones that maybe would be better for a rep to set up? What's the deal with the sim card? Can I activate it online with an esn just like other phones?

IF you are using YOUR NUMBER then it should be activated online but my father upgraded to the Razr via a different line that was not his own number so it had to be changed for a new SIM at a store. So if it is your own number line that you are upgrading with then you are fine if not you must go into a store.

If I keep the same number but upgrade from 3G to 4G, do I need to go into a store? The problem is that 3G phones don't have SIM cards that can be swapped out, that's an LTE thing.

When you upgrade to 4g via online, you receive your new phone with a 4g sim card included. Comes with a packet explaining how to activate the phone. its as simple as dialing a number and inserting the card in the phone. Really its not a big deal. You should be up and running in 10 minutes.

The only reason you would have to go to the store after ordering online would be if they didn't send you a sim card, its rare, but it has happened before.

I had imagined it would be very straightforward. Does it work this way when ordering from a third party retailed such as Amazon?
