iOS 11 = dud and yes I’m on the beta track there too. (Most iOS versions have all needed 6-9 months to get it right.)
Oreo 8.0 also proved to be trouble for Essential, Pixel, otherscand skipping to go to 8.1 now.

Better safe than sorry, too.

But honestly I don't get all this obsession over updates. As long as I get security updates I don't mind if major updates are late. For every one whining about late updates, there's someone whinging on the update breaking something. Plus, I'd rather have somebody else beta test the update rather than deal with bugs. It was only last year when Apple released like 3 updates in 4 weeks because of a while lot of bugs.
