Hey guys, I haven't had time to read through the forums. I am still on nougat on my N8 and held it off due to some people saying they had battery issues after the update.
I am on Verizon and was wondering how everything is going since this update has been out for a bit. Thanks.

i am on t-mobile and also in no rush to upgrade to oreo due to all the mixed reviews.

Battery went a bit wonky after the initial oreo upgrade but was fixed soon after, you'll be fine upgrading

I'm surprised that some users are willing to be six months behind on their security updates, allowing anyone on the planet to easily gain complete access to their phones without their even knowing it.

After any firmware update, there will be reports from a few dozen users (out of millions) who (correctly or not) perceive a decline in performance and (correctly or not) attribute it to the update. Many users report improvements, too. Most report no change. The Oreo update is no different in this regard.

Yeah, that's not even remotely close to being true.

First of all, one would have to have the knowledge to do such a thing which rules out the vast majority of the human beings on the planet. Second thing is that most security updates fix such a specific security flaw, one would have to be doing the exact thing required to enable such an exploit just for the security flaw to be available for any hacker that decides to target your specific device or specific website you happen to be on with a security issue or using a certain app that has a security flaw, etc., etc.

All that being said, I've not updated to Oreo and don't plan to until I see the next update come out, fixing at least some of the things I don't like about Oreo.

I agree. I'm still on Nougat on my S7 and like you will stay here until an update comes out, or I switch to the S10+.

OnePlus running Android P man Samsung needs to catch up

You're running a beta of "P". Those of us with only one primary phone can't risk bricking it with a beta OS. Oreo has caused enough havoc since its release....

Varies from person to person. I run P on my one and only phone.

TBH this late in the game it's very rare to hit an oh **** bug. Maybe a hiccup or two but nothing major.

Oreo has been good for me on my N8. You'll have to deal with the way Oreo handles notifications or how Samsung implemented it with their launcher. If you use a different launcher then you'll be fine.

Yeah Android P has been pretty solid on my Pixel 2XL. Can't wait to have P on the Note 9 when they release it for that.

Only one phone here , I did revert back because of a hickup , but with Google Backup and my phone manufacturers backup took like 15 minutes set my phone up again , once some off the app developers catch up then I'll move forward again

since my last post on 07-22-2018 02:04 PM, i am still on android 7.1.1

i have the SM-N9500 and according to sammobile.com
https://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/galaxy-note8/SM-N9500/

it says the latest firmware for SM-N9500 is
--> Hong Kong 2018-08-08 - Version 8.0.0 - N9500ZHU4CRG2 - N9500ZZH4CRG2
--> Hong Kong 2018-07-02 - Version 8.0.0 - N9500ZHU3CRF2 - N9500ZZH3CRF2
--> Hong Kong 2018-05-08 - Version 8.0.0 - N9500ZHU2CRD7 - N9500ZZH2CRD7

i get regular update notification on my phone, yet it still tells to update to firmware 2018-05-08 N9500ZHU2CRD7.

how come it does not give me the latest and greatest firmware 2018-08-08 N9500ZHU4CRG2 ?? or do i need to update to 2018-05-08, then 2018-07-02 then 2018-08-08 in that order??

anyone knows the answer??
