Oreo Update

if anyone figures out anything exciting or cool with the update, that wasn't there before , hope we can all share. I'm sure it's a lot more steady now, maybe a little faster, but was hoping to be "wowed" a little. totally bummed we didn't even get the AI camera upgrade.

The AI upgrade is coming eventually, I saw an article I couldn't hunt down that said LG had released it for some V30's out there already.

I am liking the new granular notifications dismissal so far.

Apparently Korean V30 models got the AI update with the Oreo update.

So for those who have got Oreo on the V30 how is it? Are there any improvements or anything worse?



I am wondering if they will ever get around to changing the horror show that is the settings menu.



I did sell my V30 but after being massively underwhelmed by the S9+ I am considering getting one again.

I'll be honest, I can't tell a difference at all. That's not to say that it's a bad thing, but the usual suspects that usually need improving (battery life, phone freezing, etc) never gave me any issues prior so it's hard to tell if they are improved. The one wish I had was better camera software, but since the only photo issue I had was partially blurry parts of a photo, I haven't been able to really test/tell if it's gotten any better.

It's fine. The settings menu was streamlined a bit, but still not the most intuitive to navigate.

I have run into app freezes causing reboots. Happened twice within two hours of updating last week (once using old GCam build, once with Reddit Is Fun). Then happened once yesterday after I left a new GCam build open after taking a photo. I will chalk that one up to GCam instability.

Re: The Settings menu, change it to the List view vs. the Tab view and it's much better IMO. (Settings > ... button > List View)

I just used Google maps to navigate to a restaurant and when I was listening to Pandora a little window that popped up with the maps on it. Pretty neat!

You can also dismiss the alarm prior to it going off now (up to 2 hours.)

I would check with your carrier. The update has been officially out since end of December last year. Next time you can skip the middle man & just simply buy one of the Korean models. They get all the updates first, months ahead of all the international carriers. I got Oreo back in November last year. I also get frequent security/updates patches. I'm running with the March 1st security patch.

In Australia, with two unlocked phones G6+, and the V30+ .. Still waiting on Oreo update . it's ridiculous some people have it since December and the rest of us are left hanging ....
