I wanted to suggest a feature for Android OS (i 'think' this might be the place) :)

***There are times when we are unable to contact help quickly, or contact/speak to 999 emergency services & it would be useful to alert loved ones at the very least. Whether you are about to be raped, abused, facing an armed robber, hostage situation, about to have a seizure/asthma attack, in a car accident, collapsed elderly, if you are a child & lost, etc.

Example of how such feature MIGHT work:
1) Smartphone Activation: 5 second long press on the fingerprint reader, with your ring/middle finger (i.e. A finger you do not normally use to unlock the smartphone)
2) This would force Airplane mode OFF, Location ON, WiFi ON, Mobile Data On.
3) SMS texts &/Emails would be automatically sent to listed emergency contacts, similar to this:

"(Name) has activated their smartphone Emergency Distress Feature at (Location). Please check whether (Name) requires your assistance, ambulance/police/fire services, or if this is a false alarm."

4) This could be combined with social media e.g. Facebook - where a similar message would be posted as their status.

The downside to something like that is sometimes, one doesn't have enough time to do the proper procedure as an event is happening.
