OTA Downloading now!

I don't see anything different, but my Thunderbolt has been great from day 1. Maybe I am not a power user but it does everything I need it to.

K thanks. I'm fighting myself with master reset. I know I will lose apps that are banished from Market. Gotta sleep on it. I know the 15% battery I am losing would do device good.I'm on the fence. Thanks... Appreciative for your feedback...

I'm pretty sure the phone needs to be replaced. I had a similar problem. Was rooted and phone would never charge past about 86%. Tried as many different battery/charger/outlet combos I could think of. Tried unrooting to get back to full stock and still had the problem. I'm sending this message from the replacement verizon sent me.

I Was so hoping that the update would fix. Is there any chance in you all's opinion, considering I can last that long, that ics 4.0 could or would correct the issue?

So, after applying the latest OTA update, my phone has drained the battery to the point of shut off both nights (had never done that before, usually would start the night near full charge and wake up somewhere around 80%). Stock everything. Wondering if anyone has found any possibly-related settings changed after the update or anything else that might be related. Thanks.

Pretty sure you have a hardware issue, no software update will fix it.

I agree with others that it's most likely a hardware issue. But, on the outside chance it is software related; only a master (factory) reset will confirm or deny that for you. If that doesn't fix it now, ICS isn't going to help in the future. Also, the longer you wait the more chance you're out of warranty depending on when you got the phone.

I went through all the settings in reconfiguring my phone after flashing the full RUU back on April 20 and didn't see anything in the settings that would cause higher battery drain. Sounds like you may have some process getting stuck causing increased battery drain. If you want to try to isolate it, connect the phone to power overnight and then in the morning look at what's at the top of battery use. Also, check your sync settings to ensure there isn't anything extra syncing or more frequently. If all else fails, you may need to do a master (factory) reset to get back to a clean state.

Thanks. Will leave the phone on charger tonight and see. Is the stock Battery use app/widget sufficient for looking at this, or is there somewhere else I could/should look? Also, if do end up needing to do a master reset, is that documented somewhere (link would be appreciated)? Thanks again.

The stock battery use area (Menu, Settings, About Phone, Battery, Battery use) should suffice, although there are apps such as Battery Monitor that provide more detailed info to dig deeper if there doesn't appear to be anything abnormal showing under stock battery use.

For info on a master (factory) reset, see page 329 of the Thunderbolt device manual (pdf link). Before performing a reset though be sure to back up your data to your SD card (see below). Your installed apps should download again after you sign into your Google account.

If you don't already back up your contacts to Google or via Verizon's Backup Assistant, you can export them to SD card. In the People app, hit menu, Import/Export, and choose Export to SD card. It creates a file called pcsc_pcsc_00001.vcf (it will increment a number if a file already exists) on the root of the SD card. To restore them, hit menu, Import/Export, and choose Import from SD card. I also use the app Bookmark Sort & Backup by happydroid to backup/restore my Internet bookmarks to the SD card (app creates a folder called "BookmarkSB" on the SD card). Once in the app, hit the "Menu" button and choose "Backup" or "Restore" as needed.

Had a similar problem. Phone, on charger, would deplete battery and turn off. You then could not turn the phone on. Had the flashing red (or orange) light. Had to then pull the battery and sim, wait, and then reinstall. It then would charge, but within the next 12 - 24 hours would do the same thing again. Was out of warranty by a week or so, but Verizon sent me another phone anyway. Close call. Don't wait until it's too late.

Thanks. Looks like that's what I have shortcutted already. Will take a good look after tonight's on-charger test.

And, thanks too for all the reset-related info. Sure hope I don't end up having to go there.

Lost 3D navigation on Google Maps/Navigation...only 2D Nav available now.

Also, battery depletes while on car dock, when it should be charging.

haha same here my thunderbolt has worked flawlessly since day 1, waiting 3 months from release date definitely helps

Glad I decided to check this out in the forum. Verizon usually sends me an email that there is an update. Am downloading it now.

Love my phone. This is a keeper for me.

has anyone had issues with hotspot since the upgrade? I used to go about 60 minutes before I disconnect... since the upgrade its I can't get 5 - 10 minutes of hotspot with out a disconnect.

Phone has been acting strange since update. It turns off when I plug it into the charger if the battery is below 10%. When I power it back on it reverts to the stock launcher rather than Launcher Pro.

And my phone is not rooted. (because I'm afraid I'll break it)
