OTA Gingerbread Dialer App Battery Issues

I've read it may have something to do with the native messaging app causing the problem. Try switching to a different message app like Handcent

I have tried both Handcent and GoSMS Pro with all of the GB leaks and the DIaler persists in the battery use llist through them all.

I have a Thunderbolt and just updated it to 2.3.4 (OTA update from VZW on 11/3/11). My dialer is consuming 26%+ power. resetting/restarting does not work. My battery drops ~1% every 15min. Used to go the whole day on 50% charge. It dropped from 100% to 30% in 5 hours last night with minimal use.

I'm having similar problems. Is there any fix besides rooting?

This problem has been a bit random. Some days dialer will be 25%+ and drain my battery in hours. Other times it will be 25%+ and not really affect battery life. Today, dialer is not on my battery list. I have search many forums. All mention this problem but I have not found a solution.

I am having very bad issues with Dialer on my TB. it can go up to 50% or more and drain my battery completely within 6 hours. i have shut it off and turned back on, tried task killer, nothing seems to work. If anyone can help i 'd appreciated it

I too have seen this but I don't really trust the numbers. My overall battery performance has improved significantly since the update. I feel like the power monitor is just giving bad results.

I have the extended battery, since the last updated I could get about 3 days use! Yes, I'm a very light user & have crazy settings toward this goal.

In the last couple weeks I've been lucky to get 40 hrs out of a battery & I blame it on the dialer. Right now dialer is #2 on the use list taking up 28% of the last 1d 2h battery since taken off the charger. Odd thing is I haven't used the for over 3 days, no incoming or outgoing calls.

I know, I should be happy with 40 hrs, whatever - I manage the phone to get my time. It's one thing to have the cell standby or phone idle or whatever has to run in the back ground using up battery. It's another to have an unused service eating it up like a fat kid at a buffet. grr.
