OTA update issues

Preface:
When I first got my EVO i "half" rooted. Did everything except unlocking NAND. Running the supersonic ROM

Until today, I withheld installing the OTA update, waiting for a root which is now out.

I install the OTA update and when it starts up I get the red Question mark, it reboots and the update obviously fails.

Why would it be doing this?

I don't know but that update bricked two of my devices, I would advise against it.

But why does my OTA update fail?? Thats what I want to figure out

Perhaps you are one of those who's phone has already updated, but the phone still thinks there is an update available? This happened to several people on here...
