ota update through external storage

Hi i have the ota file for android 5.0 on my galaxy s5 at&t version. On a website it says to update with the ota file it must be on android 4.4.4 although i cant find anyway of getting that update. Can i update from 4.4.2 or will anything bad happen? Thanks!
