I have downgraded to zvc and rooted. The zvd update has downloaded and keeps asking for install. If I do will I lose root? Is there a way disable notification?

Update and then re-root.

Yes there is, look in etc/security and rename the otacerts.zip file to otacerts.bak, then reboot your phone. The update will remain in your cache(wipe cache to remove) but wont be able to verify itself so you wont receive the update notification.
