Does anyone have any experience yet using a USB DAC/Amp with the 6P? I'd also be interested in any recommendations on software/hardware.

Thanks!

I just got a fiio e18. Phone gets here Wednesday so I'll update when it comes in. The e18 doesn't currently work correctly with my S5 galaxy though.

I've been using a HifimeDIY USB Android mini DAC for over a year with my Samsung S4 and S5. Doesn't work with my new Nexus 5x. No power for some reason. I bought a pair of adapters from Amazon and they work fine to charge and transfer data to my laptop, but no luck with the DAC. Interested to hear others' experiences and hopefully some solutions. Do I need a USB OTG cable perhaps?

So my E18 does not work with the little adapters I got, it doesn't recognize anything plugged in. But it works PERFECTLY with a "cable matters" USB-C to Micro cable I got off amazon.

Using it with my DT-770's 80ohm now and it sounds great. I'll check with my Ostry IEMS and HD650's later.

Been using the e18 all day, it was worth every penny. Works with everything, Google play music, tidal etc. Ostry kc06a sound great and can't turn it past 3 on low gain. 80ohm 770s almost max it out on high gain but its got some headroom.

I'm considering getting one but is it possible to use while having both the DAC and phone in a front pocket?

Depends how tight your pants are lol. It's about the size of a 5 inch phone but twice as thick.

Thanks for the review! It's great to know that it works with the 6P's USB-C (with a quality connector). How would you compare it to the sound straight off of the 6P? I'm wondering if anyone has tried a FiiO Q1, which is a little smaller and less expensive than the E18.

The E18 sounds great for a portable amp/dac. It powers my HD650s great and makes my IEMs sound awesome. There's no comparison to the stock output of the phone. The E18 is more detailed and full than my D4 mamba even.

Sweet! That's what I was hoping to hear - a good solution to the audio levels of the 6P. I may investigate the FiiO Q1 first, since it's less expensive and a bit smaller - but it's good to know that there's an available solution that works. Thanks for the feedback.

I have some Z:ero earbuds with a built in DAC.
SO far the only thing that has worked was a USB-C OTG cable with a A to micro converter.
It appears that most of the adapters don't pass the signals correctly or are wired wrong.
So the 6P and 5X don't see the device.

I've found some USB-C to micoUSB OTG adapters. We'll se how they work.
The Cable Matters cable might work. I may need to buy and try.

I just got my FiiO Q1. It was totally plug and play with the 6p using UAPP (USB Audio Player Pro) and a USB-C to Micro cable from Cable Matters. The difference in sound is great compared to using the headphone jack. Very Happy!

Not sure if you need an OTG cable or if the OTG standard is really relevant to USB-C. I'm using a regular C-Micro cable and it works fine with the 6p and FiiO Q1.

I got a USB to OTG adapter from my memory.com to go with a 64Gb Simon. MAGIC I can now download and upload to chips hard drives and other USB ports with ease. This should be included with all Tabs and phones.

So does the Q1 require UAPP with the Nexus 6P? I ask because I want to use it with different apps so UAPP is not a solution if I understand correctly. My HRT MicroStreamer is native plug and play and if use that if it didn't kill the battery.

Works plug and play with HibyMusic also.
So, just to be clear, I couldn't use Q1 on the 6P with any streaming audio apps such as Spotify, Dsub, etc., but only listen to music that's been loaded on my phone through two or so apps, correct?
