After watching this I got really excited to get a USB OTG cable. The possibilities seem pretty awesome. I was then immediately disheartened to read this and other posts like it on other sites. My question is, how often does this happen? From what I can tell, Samsung accessories seem to suffer from a fair amount of counterfeiting. Maybe this is part of the problem with "official" OTG cables bricking S3s? Have any of you ordered the cable directly from Samsung's website and had problems? In any case, please share your experiences with Official, "Official", and generic OTG cables.

I would bet that 99% of the "official" Samsung accessories sold on ebay are fakes. And about 75% of "official" Samsung accessories sold by independent vendors on Amazon, ditto.

This one here says it's by Samsung, looks exactly like the one on the Samsung web site, and the price is discounted from the identical price on the Samsung web site:

Amazon.com: Samsung Media/ peripheral Micro USB to USB Adapter for Galaxy S3, Note II smart phone and Note Tabs: Cell Phones & Accessories

Fits and works fine for me. More that I expected to pay (I paid about $15 late last year, seems to have gone down or to be on sale), but I was happy to find one that looked like the "real official thing" *smile*. Who knows, but in the end, glad that it works.
