I thought that the HTC One supported OTG cables, so I bought one. I get it in the mail today and it tells me it isn't supported....

That's just great. It was only $4 but still, no joy at all.

Download es file explorer and use that to see the files on a sd card or memory stick

aha, it does work with a memory stick. Sort of. It says it is preparing it, but I can't find it on ES file explorer. I may need to play around with XPrivacy controls for that one yet though.

The first thing I tried was my Xbox 360 controller, to play games with. I got this.

imgur: the simple image sharer (not img tagged because it's 1080x1920 and I didn't think anyone would appreciate that)

I mean, this is why I got it, because I saw people doing this, so I know it works... just evident;y not on my phone, lol.

edit: No, ES file explorer doesn't find the USB stick at all, even though the phone says it's ready and recognizes it in the Storage settings. I just can't navigate there at all.

That doesn't really help get my 360 controller working, which gives me the error message I posted. And my USB drive can't seem to be found by ES explorer, even though the phone says it mounts fine. Showing me all the cool stuff I can't do is not doing much but frustrating me. I've seen this stuff, it's why I got the cable, and then I can't do it. The cable itself works fine because like I said, my phone says the USB stick is mounted correctly, yet I can't navigate to it.

:P

Could be a bad OTG cable. I would try this one: Amazon.com: T & S Electronics Micro USB OTG Cable - LIFETIME WARRANTY! (Micro USB OTG to USB Adapter. Samsung Galaxy S4, HTC ONE, Nexus 7 & Nexus 10 and all OTG compatible devices: Computers & Accessories. I've bought several of this brand and they've all worked as they should, tried a few cheaper ones and it was hit or miss on the quality.

Also, make sure your storage is formatted FAT32, or you'll need to root your phone and use the Paragon mounting app.

Hope this helps!!

Mine only read the USB drive when I formatted it as FAT32 - couldn't read NTFS for some reason.

Those otg cables are hit or miss. I've bought plenty and some work and some don't. On es file explorer, when you plug in the cable look in the upper left corner . It's a tab, hit it and you should see something for exernal drive or something like that.

I think the cable is okay, it says "Preparing USB storage, please wait" and then "USB storage is ready", but nothing changes in ES file explorer. The phone even recognizes it under the Storage settings option, I just can't navigate there any way, it seems.

The phone is rooted but I have no idea what format the stick is. How can I tell?

edit: oh, dur, I found it lol. It's FAT32, the phone recognizes it and knows it is there, but I can't get to the root directory of it in any way. I am reasonably sure the cable works, or it wouldn't see it at all. And my Xbox 360 controller still doesn't work, but it might be worth noting that it was a Ghost Recon Future Soldier one and not a standard Microsoft one. I'm about ready to try a Moga or get a cheap PS3 controller lol.

Hey man! I have the same problem with my HTC One and 360 controller . Have you solve your problem? because I am still looking for solution :) Sorry for my English.
