There are two kinds of OTG adapter, the ordinary kind and host mode.
Which should I get for my Nexus 7? I've looked at threads in various forums and nobody ever seems to address this question.
I have ordered a 4-port usb hub, keyboard and mouse. I also plan to access storage from a thumb drive using the Media Importer app.
I read somewhere when you plug something in that you go to Settings, Advanced Settings, and then USB BUS MODE and change it from DEVICE mode to HOST. Maybe you have to do that with a non-host-mode OTG cable. Supposedly the host mode cables have two pins shorted, and that tells the device to act as a host. I'm just speculating. It would be nice to have somebody in the know explain it all. I am going to keep searching and see how much I can find out in the meantime.
