OTTER BOX DEFENDER series!!!!

Man, they are really dragging this out. I finally got the USPS website to register the tracking number and here's what it said:

Status: Electronic Shipping Info Received

The U.S. Postal Service was electronically notified by the shipper on November 14, 2010 to expect your package for mailing. This does not indicate receipt by the USPS or the actual mailing date. Delivery status information will be provided if / when available. Information, if available, is updated periodically throughout the day. Please check again later.

This whole Otterbox Defender order is almost like a parody of a mail order process...

First we will notify you of our intent to charge your credit card, then we will process that notification at which time we will prepare to send you an official .pdf on official letter head with numbers that look, well, official. None of them will work for four days. Upon sunrise of the fifth day, the tracking number will reveal---wait for it---a very serious intent to deliver to the post office the product that you ordered in the earlier season of our professed availability to distribute. This intent should not be confused with the actual activity often referred to as "shipping"; however, it should be considered seriously as we will follow-up to that intent on sundown of the 8th day with a letter indicating our further intent to call the truck to our warehouse to pick up said package for the purpose of delivery.

Puhleeze

Dude! That was funny as hell! But yeah, I have/read the same thing. But I pinged Otterbox's facebook page and they said my order had shipped.

Got mine yesterday. $40.45 Shipped direct from Otterbox.

From order to receipt. (5) days.

I really like the case. The fit and finish of the case and rubber are top notch.

The covers for the earphone jack and the charging port/HDMI snap into place when not in use. No flapping around.

The case is both visually and texturally appealing to me.

The built in screen protector is nice and is resistant to fingerprints. I hope it lasts.

With the case on the EVO it is over .75 inches thick. If you like to pocket carry, then this case is probably not for you.

There is a kickstand built into the Otterbox case so you don't lose that feature (which I hear, you lose on the Seidio Rugged).

I am not too fond of the holster. It is more designed to hold the phone horizontally, but I wear it vertically. The phone locks in securely but rattles around. I added some adhesive back foam to a couple spots inside the case to prevent the rattle. What bugs me is when you have to WESCOG something you just dropped some coin on.

For me>

Case: Seidio Active vs Otterbox Defender - Winner Otterbox Defender

Holster: Seidio Active vs Otterbox Defender - Winner Seidio Active

Of course, your opinion may vary.... :p

I am still waiting on mine and I ordered it on the 10th! Grrrrr Can you post pictures or do a short review video?? I don't think mine has even shipped yet :(

Just got mine as well.

Much...MUCH...bulkier than the Commuter series. Now it Doesn't fit in my Fortee cutom leather case. Oh well though. But all in all I love the case! And it fits like a glove and I couldn't be happier. Ripcode mentioned his phones kinda rattles around in the holster but mine is tight.

Of coarse, the feel of this is much better than the commuter series. The rubber is grippy and I'm not concerned about dropping it now like I used too.

Okay, so I've only had the thing on for about an hour now, but it pretty much looks and fits as I expected.

It's a hefty case, which I both like and don't love--but that's what I got it for, so no complaints. The feel is textured and slightly rubberized, but not too much so. The built in kick stand works well. The built in screen protector is pretty sensitive, and just from playing around a bit, I haven't had any recognition issues. I haven't use the phone part of my EVO since I put it on, so I can't speak to that yet but will update later when I can.

The power and volume toggle work better/more easily on the Defender than my Seidio Active (though I never really minded that). I won't be using the holster on my person (might clip it to the chest strap of my commuter bag on my way to work and around town), so the slight jiggle people mention isn't a big deal to me.

I've had to fidget with the silicon outer to get it to be completely flush around the edges, which I suppose is my only real criticism. I can get it mostly flush, though when I have the bottom dust cover open to charge the silicon flops away from the bottom edge which I also don't love. If this gets any worse, I may contact Otterbox for a replacement in case it's not meant to be like that.

All in all, I feel like I got about 95% of what I paid for. The slight silicon issues make me feel a little less than thrilled with it, but I will most likely still keep the case. Its over all solid feel and Otterbox style is pretty nice.

The case was well worth the $$ IMO but the rattle was driving me crazy. I thought about putting some foam strips inside the case but wanted to keep the clean look. I took a trip to the local craft store and picked up a sheet of black adhesive backed felt. In 5 mins the rattle was gone and the phone fit much better.

I ordered mine on the 10th and still haven't received it, at this point in time I am none to impressed with otterbox. I checked my order status just now and it still says being processed.... this is just ridiculous.

Just received the case a few moments ago and it is definitely heftier than I thought. I'm sure it will protect my phone really well though. As others have said the silicone is not easy to put on, there's like a small edge around the front that you have to hook onto the hard first layer, I had to use my fingernail to slowly pull up the silicone little by little to hook it in.

Everything else so far is great, there's no "wet-spot" on the screen protector and it's very responsive. The integrated kick-stand is nice. There's not much wobble using it.

The flaps covering the ports does seem like it might not stand up over time, though. It's hooked into the first layer also and I don't know if it'll hold up to being pulled out every night to charge the phone. It's not flimsy by any means, though.

All things said, it's a very good case if you want drop protection. It's definitely worth the cost.

Love the case other then the kickstand it broke off on the 4th day of owning it very fragile and customer service over the phone is terrible wait on hold foreeeever. Also own the trident which i like too aside from the flap that covers hdmi and mini usb port its kinda loose doesnt stay firmly closed.

I ended up returning my Defender. It was too much ($$ and bulk) and not enough (seamless protection), IMHO. Cost me about $10 in S&H to try it. Bummer.

I just bought a Defender case today. I like the case a lot so far, but only a couple of hours of use. I'll use it for a few days & then decide. I noticed that I can use the clip for a kick stand too. That's pretty cool.

Sent from my EVO using Tapatalk.

Since you got the defender...do u mind selling the innocase active...i was looking for one..especially the white one...let me know on evo.ardent@gmail.com

Hey there. The white Innocase is a little rough in a couple corners (a kind of light peeling a couple people have noted elsewhere). I still like it and may actually use it again (returned the Defender and got the Commuter, which I prefer), but I'm not sure you would want to pay much for it.

I have the commuter and it is the best case, IMO - I did have a problem with the bottom silicon that was quickly replaced by Otterbox customer service. For those experiencing shipping issues - When they replaced my silicon liner they advised they were in the process of inventory the 6th - 7th and the weekend telling me my shipment would be delayed. For me Otterbox has an advocate and I will be gladdy by another when I replace my device.
