My Otterbox Alpha Glass screen protector order arrives today.

Life happens. I usually research things pretty thoroughly but got in a rush when I found out that the Defender didn't have a screen protector.

If anyone has installed it on their GS8, how is the clarity, glare, and responsiveness? Both touch, FFC and sensors? I noticed that there are no cut outs for them.

There's a review on YouTube with it, I've been trying to find a good one. Looks like it works great wijth otter box cases, but looks really mirror like finish instead of solid black like the regular screen. But who knows it could just be how it looks on camera

I am curious about this too, as the screen protector I purchased that was "case friendly" was not so friendly with the defender. Still need a screen protector now...

It has the Dot Matrix on the screen and this is why I passed on the Alpha Glass.

Please let us know how yours works out.

No idea why any company would think that's a good idea... " hey, let's put a ton of small dots on the screen"

It is because without them the entire screen protector is likely to stick to the screen. I know that seems like a good idea but it would actually cause a polarized effect on a curved screen, which is more obstructive then the dots. The dots should only be visible to the naked eye in very bright settings...and even then, you can still see the screen. But in certain settings, a non-matrixed protector would nearly totally obscure your phone.

Still, I have yet to find an acceptable screen protector solution for this phone.

If it weren't for the fact that it would cost well over $100 for the glass, the defender and a commuter I would definitely go with OtterBox. For now I'll stick with my Zagg wet install and iBlaison armor box. Unfortunately the Zagg doesn't play nice with my supcase hybrid.

This is the reason for my concern. The Defender case is not an issue as it's got great track record with me but, investing almost $50 in a screen protector, is a concern. However, the cost of repairs makes it easier to give the tempered glass screen protector a try.

I have the Samsung premium care and the deductible is $100 so I'd be better of going naked and filing a claim when it breaks. Hard to justify spending this much money to take away from the aesthetics of this phone.

I can definitely appreciate that. I am not so much concerned with the aesthetics as function not having to file a claim for repair. Resale values are better with a pristine device.
