Oukitel WP6 NO WEBSITES PHOTO UPLOAD OPTION

[Android Central Question]

I have a oukitel WP6 Chinese brand smartphone, it's great for my needs.

There is one problem which is really bugging me , when I use a website like Craigslist or free ads or photo print etc and the site asks me to "upload image from device" I click on it and my phone only gives me camera option or video recorder function, usually there is the Google files explorer or Google photos or the device gallery option but not here.

I have tried downloading apps from the Google play store in the hope it will give me the option to set that as the default app but none of them have worked.

It seems the only assigned apps it will give me option of choosing are camera apps and camera recorder apps, no gallery apps or file explorer apps are shown.

I think with it being an oukitel brand they are probably a better their own software and forgot to do this I'm not sure is there any work around or way to fix it please??

Try resetting app preference? What Android version is it on?

It says it's Android version 9 and I have tried resetting app preferences that doesn't seem to be the problem the problem is it doesn't choose the correct category of application in the first place so instead of choosing a picture gallery app it just choose a camera app which won't let me pick an image it's like it doesn't recognise any gallery or file explorer in my phone

Ah ok , might be a restriction what pops up to choose from those sites

Welcome to Android Central! If you pick the Camera option, can you then tap the Gallery button in the Camera UI? I mean the button that you typically press to see the photo you just took.

Also, go to Settings>Apps, select your browser, then Permissions, and make sure it has permission to access your Storage/Files.

Who do you see for example using a pixel photo editing website when it asks me to upload image when I click upload image it gives me the option capture image complete action or contacts if I click capture image it offers me several camera apps and if I click complete action then offers me several camera recorder apps but nothing else and contacts doesn't do anything

I'm beginning to think it's a restriction in the software which must be a oukitel software running over the top of Android where they are placed a restriction on what type of file can be opened with what type of website if you get me I have emailed them but I just thought I'd try here for extra support see if anybody have any other ideas it's a tricky one

Make sure that web browser has permission for camera,storage whatever it needs

Hi there yes I have given all apps full permissions including the camera apps and the browser, all other aspects of the phone are working perfectly it's just this one tiny detail I think when they were developing the software they made a mistake perhaps.

Maybe test with another web browser see if same ?

I did try it with opera browser earlier but it didn't work but with you suggesting that I thought I would give Firefox a quick go and what do you know it's now working the files has appeared
