Outlook Calendar Sync Question

I work at a large company that will not allow me to sync my email with a smartphone. But I know that I can sync my Outlook calendar locally from my notebook.

Is this possible to do? I am the Droid X this week which will be my first Android phone and I hope that I can do this.
