OV vs Motorola Triumph ...need help.

I do find it funny that so many people were all the Triumph is better phone than the Optimus V. We are gonna buy it and build roms for it that will make the Optimus V look like a kids toy. And then nothing real impressive ever came of it. Most people abandoned ship and reactivated their Optimus V's. You have people like watskyhotsky that still "support" they made the right decision but are back here trolling alone. Not enough activity in the Triumph community so they have made their way back here./shrug.

it makes sense for me to stick around and find new rom developments and stuff for the OV when I have to take care of friends OVs and update as needed. while I'm here I try to help with other posts I see.

the Triumph section on Android Central is dead, the AndroidForums Triumph section is alive and im there more than here, if you think im here a lot.

the OV and MT both have great stable CM7 roms, the Mt also has an awesome MIUI rom.

considering that if someone were to buy a phone with the purpose of installing CM7, the MT is a far better choice. if you were to leave it to stock roms, the OV and Mt both run 2.2 froyo. and the triumph still has more features.

The Triumph is clearly the better phone. thats not the question though, the question was "is it worth buying the MT at this time?" (the jist of it) to which my answer is the same as yours.

hold off on it and wait for VM to do something with the "high end" sector of their phone line-up

I got my Triumph a few months ago now but If i had waited till now, I would definately wait to see what VM will do.

even the OV had problems in its stock software when released, maybe not THAT significant, but enough for the community to notice a problem and fix it in custom software.

it may be "unacceptable" to you, but your extremely unlikely to stick to a stock ROM on any phone you own in the near future anyways. so in the end, this problem doesnt really affect you.
What did you think was broken on the OV when you got it?

Other than the bloat, it worked great right out of the box, maybe a but shy on battery.
The storage space wasn't anything to write home about, but it wasn't considered tiny for the time. Everything worked. The first roms were more about overclocking than anything else.

While any phone I get will likely get a rom, I don't feel I should HAVE to rom it just to make it work right.

I'm the same way with computers, I almost always wipe Windows and put a clean copy on, but I shouldn't have to to fix problems. I leave them stock to make sure things work before I start messing with them.

Well, I somehow got a huge scratch on my screen, and its driving me nuts, I'm in the same pickle, I am really leaning towards replacing this phone with a triumph, I really want to hold off until the 4g service starts, but who knows when that will ever be

Where is the 4G announcement?

I would hold off on buying a Triumph. Think about it that phone is almost a year old and honestly not worth the price VM is asking. It wasnt worth it at launch let alone a year later.
