Here's what I don't understand... We have a plan for $85 for 8 GB.. Plus my phone and my wife's is $40 more EACH for access to the plan. What the hell?? I can buy a plan, and then I have to buy access to the plan I just bought??? Suck it Verizon !

Agree with you 100% especially with the line accessory I am facing the same crap. Just for your note they have a offer going in 10 GB for $80 just thought you might want to know. Still expensive as all get out this is why I am looking into other options. Feels like robbery to me. We pay for two lines with one gig of data. The data plan is $30 per month with a wine access fee of $40 per month for both lines. Verizon claims the $40 is for a limited minutes and text access. The other plan is just for the data. So why is it so expensive for the data. Our bill is close to $120 every month. Thankfully we are getting one gigabyte for free or else he would be $130 for 2 GB. But give me and get your price is reasonable Verizon wireless because everything else is wonderful

Sorry I Chyna copy of the other poster but they are right on many other better options out there and your plan is :-) out of date so call them and see what you can do. I would take the $70 option personally.

First off, you should switch to the current rates - for $80 you'd get 10gb, or you can switch down to $70 for 6gb. Second, the $40 includes the device subsidy. If you were on Edge that'd be $15 + the cost of the phone. Third, if you don't like it you can switch carriers, but they all charge a per device access fee in addition to the basic charge. That's how a share plan works.

Yes but the difference with the phone subsidy is the $40 across the board. My wife's phone is 2 years old almost and she pays the same as me with a droid turbo. Its just misdirection in advertising. No one can get a plan that only cost $80 for 10GB +taxes and fees

Besides the point, my plan is out of date(which has been changed already) but it still only saves $5-$10 at most. Verizon makes their money on confusing people.

Did she get that 2 year old device on a subsidy? After the 2 year contract that $40 should drop down to the price it is on Edge.

If she just got the device well .. It was subsidized.

Its not a subsidy though. We have a third line with nothing on it but still get charged the $10 a month for a tablet.

Regardless of phone its $40. She has an LG G2. That phone should be completely paid for in 6-8 months at $40/month.

True you should have done Edge then -- to then pay it off and have a less charge.

Also I don't get what you mean -- you have a 3rd line but you put nothing on it and are still being charged? You should call and remove the line if so.

Kind of doubt that.

Which? The unlimited? I believe it will go away one day.

The SMS thing is true -- it rides on the "keep alive" signal from the phone so it doesn't really add any extra strain.

I dont think it will be anytime soon if at all. Its 2015 and we still have 2 carriers with unlimited data. I think as long as its 3rd and 4th place carriers we will have unlimited. And the part about T-Mobile.

They won't be able to sustain unlimited for people if they get big enough. They only do it right now because that is their only hook against the bigger guys. Some may be willing to sacrifice excellent coverage to get unlimited data. They definitely aren't giving us unlimited to be nice -- they would love to be raking in the money the big guys do .. they're a business after all.... and businesses are about the $.

Unless they get the coverage that at&t and Verizon have, they probably won't get rid of unlimited data. And in 10 years when the next gen of network comes out the networks will be able to handle a lot more stress.

Might be true but...stress is only a factor. Cash is the biggest...what makes them more? Charging per amount versus a "one price all you want" buffet :).

True but all 4 carriers are run by 4 totally different CEOs. Just look at both att and vzw legacy unlimited plans. I hered that att throttles its users or used to while vzw unlimited was and or is unlimited.

Legacy though isn't what they currently think. That was before mobile data blew up like it has.

Also AT&T changed that policy.

Yeah after they saw all the backlash from throttling its unlimited users.

No it was due to the FCC suing them and telling them they cannot do that. AT&T throttled unlimited for awhile -- the change in policy is recent.

Just to clarify, att did eliminate the throttle but they are now implementing network optimization if you cross the 3/5gb threshold. So if you are in a high load tower and have exceeded the 3/5gb cap then you may experience slower speeds than those in tiered data during those times of high load. Once the load is no longer high, your speeds will return to normal.

This is in contrast to Verizon UDP which is truly unlimited unthrottled 4GLTE. No throttling or network optimization.

Yes - but that's a lot better than before. When I had them and you passed 5 GB your phone became useless for the remaining time left in that cycle.. Even at 3 AM.. It was horrible.

Correct. Way better. Just wanted to point out that it isn't the same.
