overcharging? a problem?

I usually charge my phone overnight for 6-10 hours but the phone will completely charge in 4 hours so will this cause problems for my battery

Once your phone is charged, it detects the full charge it stops charging. I leave mine plugged in overnight as well.

I have been told by some engineers that today batteries are just fine charging overnight and regularly. Two things you were not supposed to do ten years ago.

Yep, and the hardware is usually even designed to allow the battery to discharge very slightly in order to further prevent any potential damage. No worries about that, charging it over night does no harm.
