overclocking evo passed 1190 mhz(help!)

yea thats the kernel im running on right now with destroyer rom. however as soon as i overclock to 1228 mhz it freezes .

Some phones can't handle that that much. That is why you see a lot of kernels only going to 1190. That is the range that all phones will stay stable.

set cpu.. and i have it set to performance . but even when i switch it to interactive or smart ass , as soon as it hits 1228 my phone freezes

Totally normal, each chip is made ever so slightly different. The factory just makes sure it can run at 1ghz (1000) and anything over that is just bonus really.

So some phones cannot go over 1190, some cant even go over 1130. There really isnt that much a performance difference with it so i wouldnt worry.

Just make sure you don't set on boot until you are confident your phone is stable. The one and only time I had to do a complete fresh install was when Tiamat was clocked to high and it sent my phone into bootloops.

I am using miikfryo 4.4 with ziggy 471 @mightyrom# 9 kernel and quadrant reading is 1457 using amon recovery 2.3 and titanium back up on evo 4g

I can occasionally go to 1228 on Tiamat 4.0.2 (yay HDMI-EDID fix merge!) but usually it will lock up. There's no tangible difference between the two clock speeds on Performance gov. for FPSe, so I really only push it to 1228 to see if it'll lock up. One thing I've learned is to uncheck Set on Boot when overclocking, lol! I have set it to 1190 min/max Performance for days on end (Seidio 3500 ftw!) without a problem. I couldn't care less about benchmarks, so eh!
