Alright So I read somewhere that you could save battery life dramatically with this widget called Overclocked, so I went ahead and installed it, and underclocked it when display is off to save battery. The only thing is that I also changed it when display is on from 3**** to 5**** and thought that this would make my Evo Faster...uh..no it didnt so I went ahead and uninstalled it. Well now my battery is going dead quicker than most people are losing their jobs! I need an experts advice on this..Should I re install the widget and set it back? And what is the default speed?

By the Way I am running CM 6.1.2 with Bliss HD theme 2.0

Haha great example :-) I think if you had set it low and deleted it I think its at what you had before you started but try and install and use the detect overclock speed and that's your stock speed it should be right under 1ghz like 98600 Ghz which is really 986 or like 968 but the best way to save battery is get ether a stock kernel for cyanogen roms I hear.

and when you are not using your internet turn off your mobile network in your wifi setting and mobile network that save a good amount of battery and just to be safe turning off your background data for the android market its in your account settings and its not like every 20 min your downloading apps you know.

but I do that and if I leave my house in the morning and use the phone for moderate calls and texts and I really use it for the web alooooot haha and I also play music as well any chance I get and my phone lasts awhile.

im running myn's rls5 underclocked at 700 / 866 ghz with the more havs SBC kernel haven't had any problems at all but one which my Evo is new and the camera crap I can't use because of the new chip but I don't really use it but I might want to so ill just change the kernel soon but for now im loving the pretty good battery life.

but oh ya don't use overclock widget get setpcu from the xda website just Google it and if your signed up its free but if not you'll have to pay a few dollars its worth getting its easier to use hope that helps ya save your phone from losing its job lol :-)

Alright so I got Setcpu from XDA, now what? Is this suppose to make my phone faster? or what do I do? Better yet what do you recommend?

It can make your phone faster if you increase the clock speed, and it will also help you increase battery life by managing profiles. Set up profiles to underclock when your screen is off or when your battery reaches a certain level like less than 30%.

Oh wow thanks! BTW I have already underclocked it for when the display is off, and so far I can notice a difference in a better battery! thanks!;-)

Even if I dont want to overclock just underclock?

No, that's why I said if you want to "increase your clock speed". ;-) But either way, be careful when either lowering or raising your speed. Go slow and don't push it too much. Here's a warning from the dev.
"Very low or higher than normal frequencies may freeze your phone. Especially high frequencies (such as those enabled in certain custom kernels) have a risk of shortening the life of your phone. If your phone freezes, just yank out the battery."

Use set CPU, and if your using a HTC kernel hit menu while in the app and hit perflock disabler, that way you can underclock.

If your using any other kernel it isn't needed.

To overclock, just drag the slider over as far as you want, to underclcok use the set CPU profiles.

Since he's on Cyanogen he shouldn't have to hit perflock disabler, should he? I'm running cyanogen and I've had no need to hit perflock disabler.

You're right, he doesn't have to because cyanogen uses the cyanogen kernel.

ANY OTHER kernels besides the HTC ones don't need perflock disabled

I didn't do that and just underclocked it when screen is off and all I have to say is wow!! My battery is at least 2 times better!!! Thanks! ! Buying the paid version from market now.
