Overheating warning when taking pictures

Has anyone else had this warning come up? I've had it twice now. Seems to happen when it's 85 or warmer. If I take more than 2 pictures when it's warm out, my 3a XL heats up and I get a warning that the phone is getting hot. I've probably got at least 8 more weeks of 85+ weather here.

Does the phone get hot to touch, or is it just typically warm?

It sounds like something else is malfunctioning to make the phone heat up excessively, because just taking a few pics shouldn't do that, in relatively modest heat like 85 F. What's your cell signal like? If it's poor, that can cause increased heat production as the phone works harder to keep the signal.

I know the signal at my house isn't great. That's when I first noticed it. That day was really hot, maybe near 100 and we have lots of humidity here too. I'll try to test it out again and see if the cell signal has an effect.

Remember, it is really not how many pics you take matters. It is how long you have camera app open and hence the camera sensor operated on. All digital camera sensors generate a lot of heat when it is used to capture any photo and video. Even the big DSLR can't take video longer than a few minutes without overheated.
