overheating

i was driving today and charging the phone...I had the music player and the gps on, i checked the battery app and saw that my phone was at 118 degrees. is that considered overheating or normal? I was using the usb cord that came with the phone to charge ( I have a fm transmitter that has a usb out port so it can charge while i use it)

Well depends, 118 Fahrenheit or 118 Celsius.......if Fahrenheit it sound about right, hell your body is 98 so it's not that hot. If 118 Celsius you could fry an egg off it.

nah it was 118 F, ok, thanks, with all of these battery issues going around, was hoping mine wasnt one of those as well

The other day I was driving with only gps on and phone was charging with the supplied Verizon charger and not in the sun. The light flashed amber/green. Battery left widget said 118*f and the info said overheated ........ very disappointed right now :(

The sensor in your phone or battery may be defective? HTC, the battery manufacturer, and Verizon's information show the phone should be safe to use up to 140f. Granted I wouldn't use it that high, as that's the higher end of the spectrum for the battery and could be close to swelling and doing bad things.

Mine overheated twice at work, and i'm pretty certain it's because I don't get a 3g signal here, and the phone works harder on 1x trying to find a 3g signal all day. In addition, I had Touchdown trying to sync my Contacts (over 1000) and it was taking over an hour to do, so I think the combination of already working hard on 1x, and then being taxed to sync contacts was messing it up.

I unchecked Touchdown from synching contacts (just using the native HTC program) and haven't had the problem since...

Called Verizon today and they're sending a replacement battery. I remember reading somewhere that the supplied Verizon car charger was causing others to have this problem. He also said there has been no other report about this problem ...... yea right! I'm not counting on a new battery to be the fix but well see.

Like an idiot I left my Incredible on the dashboard of my friend's car while we played a round of golf in Myrtle Beach in June. It was during the heat wave and it was around 100 degrees OUTSIDE the car that day. I can only imagine what the temperature was inside the car, on the dash, inside a black phone. I could barely handle the phone when I picked it up. I was sure it was fried, but it responded like nothing was wrong. What was wrong was my fingertips getting burned when I touched the screen. It never even shut down due to overheating. After she cooled down, and ever since, she's never had any problems because of my moronic phone sauna. I love my Incredible!

Yeah it's not the car charger. I just got done with a 4000 mile road trip using that car charger and GPS the whole way mounted up in my dash. No overheating issues with my setup. A new battery might fix the issue, who knows.

I have the same issue, but could it be the cheap battery that I bought off of ebay? Probably why they are so cheap...

Yeah mine gets warm in the hard case , when using gps but never has overheated or shut off even in my jeep (that doesnt have AC ) and on 95 degree days . But I do have the windows out at the least :p lol(needs a new ragtop )

Yeap I would avoid those real cheap off brand batteries , they are real cheap for a reason usually :)
