Overnight charging & 4 capacitive buttons

Hi all - first post here.

The only real issue I've come across on my Evo 4G is the following. After charging my phone overnight, when I pick it up in the morning to check email - the 4 capacitive buttons do not light up.

So far I have only seen this issue after charging overnight. I have not seen this issue after an hour "topping off" charge.

The only way to rectify this issue is to remove the battery and re-insert. Once that is done, it lights up normally.

Any thoughts?

Quick fix is to unplug and re-plug after the buttons pop on ...

if you place your finger over the light sensor below the notification light your buttons will light up. at least it works on mine.

Yes - mine only light up when its dark as well. When I get up in the morning, it is still generally dark in my room. I reach for the phone even before I get out of bed (to shut off the alarm). That is when I noticed that the lower 4 buttons were not coming back on.

I did notice that the lights will go off again after a bit when you replug the charger.

It doesn't light up because its not dark. They only light up when the light sensors perceive that its dark. Turn on the display and put your finger over the censors (right below where the LED light will show up when charging, to the right of the htc logo) I guarantee you that the buttons will light up after about 5 seconds. (as long as you got the censors)

My room is quite dark at night (pre-dawn, when I sometimes wake up) with the lights off.

I believe this is a bug. If it is by design, then perhaps someone can explain the rationale then.

Mine did similar this morning. Unplugged and hit the screen button to turn off then turn on. That worked but would like to see another solution.

Anyone else have any luck?
