New to kindle but have posted elsewhere on forum...I recently installed go launcher and it won't let me use shorts cuts so I was going to install a different apk of kindle. I asks if I want to replace existing file. If I do this wil be able to get back original app install on phone if I reset to factory default? aAnd is there any difference between the apps...will they function the same way?

Any advice appreciated.

I don't know that it's a good idea to try to replace the Kindle app. I found a convoluted way to create shortcuts to apps on the Go Launcher home screens:

Install GoToApp Demo. Clck on "All Apps". Long-press an app, and select "Create Shortcut". The shortcut will appear on the GoLauncher home screen.

I also installed Folder Organizer, to create folders (since the Folders function doesnt work on GoLauncher on the Fire, either).

They're both crazy extra steps, I know, but it's worked for me.;)

did the gotoappdemo shortcut as described above and a shortcut shows up but what did ypu chose out of app list for the short cut...i don't see books or kindle in there

yeah did not work......it created a shortcut but the shortcut didn't work...just installed launcher as dock icon and i will get to it that way. thanks anyway.

Are you sure? I have the shortcut installed, and it goes straight to the book I was last reading.

Ii believe it will work till you try to pick another book and then no luck...but that is just what I've heard...but I didn't have a book started in original launcher so no luck. Now that I've got my book out of the archive I will try a short cut when I start reading it to avoid the launcher change step. And thanks for the folder app suggestion...it does work for most other apps.
