Owl mode vs. Night mode

Not sure everyone has had a chance to play with this, but there's a huge difference between night mode and the Owl shot (it's that pixel merge feature). I had a second to play with it. It seems that night mode holds the shutter open longer and owl shot does something magical.

You need light, just definitely not as much! Here are some samples. The pictures in the barn are the difference between auto and owl, and the fire pic is night and auto. Nothing was fine in post. The trike is just auto. Auto does a surprising job in low lights. I was impressed!

Hope that helps a little! I was confused for a second, but more I have a better idea when to use which.

Interesting the pics still look good either way.
The camera certainly has a learning curve.
