Oxygen or CM12?

Hi,

Wondered if anyone has flashed both roms and had a chance to compare the 2? Which seems the better, more stable rom?

I was running CM12 nightlies before yesterday morning.

Initial thoughts:
1) Oxygen is smoother and faster than CM.
2) Battery seems even better on Oxygen (though I don't have any hard data on that)
3) No bugs at all on Oxygen. I experienced random minor crashes on CM (understanding that CM isn't a final build)
4) Customization of themes is the biggest missing quality that CM has which Oxygen doesn't. However, Oxygen reminds me of owning a Nexus.

Conclusion: If you want stock Android and a very near Nexus feel, Oxygen is perfect. If you loved the customization qualities of CM11, wait for CM12.

Personally, I have always loved the Nexus and stock experience. I'll be sticking with Oxygen.

Question - If I do Oxygen, can I later go with CM12 and then move back to Oxygen without rooting and flashing and all that stuff?

You won't have to root and unlock anymore, but you'll have to wipe and flash between the roms. Get good at backing up!

don't even try oxygen OS, Full of problems and bugs.
Believe me.
I flashed before 3 days and i got back to CM12 after just 2 hours.

So let me get this straight... You had Oxygen a whole two hours? Well that was dumb. What bugs are you referring to? I've been on Oxygen and haven't experience a single thing? How would it be possible to even find a bug in two hours? 😒

Don't listen to this post. If desire a great stock experience of Android, Oxygen is fantastic.

On oxygen os, most of the times my display doesn't come up automatically while opening the flap cover

I read on the OPO forums that there were issues with the flip cover. Did you report using the feedback app?

Well, the issues I've found so far are:

1) Swiping down from the top doesn't fully load the notification bar as it seems to stop almost half way. If I do a full slow swipe down, it fully loads but a normal swipe down causes it to 'stick'.

2) Smart unlock by location isn't working at all so that would be a bug.

3) GPS doesn't seem to want to lock. This could be affecting #2 but letting it sit for 10 minutes to get a full 3D fix (using GPS app), and Smart Unlock by location still wouldn't work.

I also don't find the screen as 'white' as on CM11S as it seems it has a more yellowish tone to it.

Outside of that, while I like the speed and some of the features of Oxygen, I'll still switch to CM12 (whenever they decide to release the silly thing) since I miss some of the customizations you get.

I haven't tried Oxygen yet, but so far I haven't heard about anything that looks like a reason to switch to it from CM 11s.

I'm using OxygenOS for the last 2 days. So far I've not experienced any problems.

I don't have the flip cover. So I cannot comment on that.

Every app I had before work as expected, including Waze and Google maps, which use the GPS.

My Bluetooth seems to connect quicker than before, when getting into my car. I'm happy about that.

I'm very happy so far with this ROM. Obviously you mileage may vary.

I'll add another issue I found today... ANT+ wouldn't work under Oxygen.

So, I reinstalled CM11S since with the weather finally warming up, I need ANT+ for my fitness apps.

Hopefully CM12S/COS12 will be good out of the gate or I'll stick on CM11S until the next update is out.

I feel the same way. I love Roma but a ROM that's not 95% stable is not usable to me

Looks like similar issues exists on the Galaxy S4 after the lollipop update.

So might not be an Oxygen issue, but a general Ant+ issue with Lollipop.

I got CM12S last night via OTA and I'm liking this. I don't have a basis for comparison to OxygenOS but I will say that I have had no issues so far.

The phone runs snappy, and battery life seems to be better for me actually.
