P20 camera and other app crashes

I recently (within the last 2 months) acquired a Huawei P20 and it's been great, until now. Now every time (and it is every single time) I try to use my camera, it lags for a few seconds and then the camera app crashes and sends me back to the home page. I'm also havinh crashes with a few other apps crashing but not as regularly.
Any ideas how to fix?

I'd first try a factory reset. Before you proceed, be sure to backup all important data. Copy all important files to your computer, SD card or another device. You can also use Huawei Backup to backup all important data you want to keep and be sure to save the backup to an external device. You can also backup contacts, photos, app data, settings, calendar events, etc. to your Google account. After backing everything up, do a factory reset (Settings > Advanced settings > Backup & reset > Factory data reset).

If this doesn't solve the problem, your warranty should cover this. Go to your carrier or store where you bought the phone and ask them to send your phone to their repair service.

Hi my P20 lite did the same. It was fine for the first few weeks. Then whilst at an event from which I wanted photos my camera did the same, it would take one photo then return to the home screen.

I have my phone set for downloading to my SD card. A restart didn't fix the problem.

I spent that evening messing with it and eventually thought my SD card must be full. It had 2.5 gig space but I thought perhaps that's the problem. When I put the card in my computer I found it had been made READ ONLY. It wasn't because the adaptor was set to read only, the card itself is locked.

I fitted a new card.

This morning a few days later I went to download a WhatsApp photo and it wouldn't as it said it didn't recognize the SD card!

I did a restart and it then downloaded the WhatsApp photo.

I think there is something wrong with the SD card management software, which now makes me wary if this phone, as I run a blog and need a reliable camera.

Any suggestions as to what could be wrong? And how to unread only an SD card!!

A hard reset would be a right pain.

Which SD card were those? I had similar problems on my LG phone with SanDisk microSD cards, but not with a Samsung card.
