Hello everyone , this is my first post here as thankfully I have had 4 trouble free years with my P20. I hope someone can help?

In the last week however I have not been able to get onto the Internet using my data sim. It has been cutting in an out saying 'no network connection' despite saying I have full 4G coverage.

It is not the sim card which I have tested in another phone in various locations I go during the day. All fine.

The phone is making calls and working fine except for this issue. Wifi is fine.

I have been online and done all the checks suggested, wiping cache, cleaning sim, rebooting. Everything except a factory reset. It seems to be a hardware issue.

I did replace the battery about 6 weeks ago but it has been working fine until this week. I am running Android 12.

Could anyone shed any light as to what could be the issue if the sim is saying I am on the network yet I have no Internet connection? What could be the issue with the actual phone?

This is my last hope before I try a factory reset and if no joy get a new phone.

Any help would be appreciated. It's driving me mad!

Have you called the network and checked with them to make sure the phone is properly registered? You can also reset the Network settings (for mobile networks) and the carrier should 'push' the right config back upon connection.

Hello, thank you for replying. Yes I have spoken to them and they said everything is fine. I have also reset the network setting twice and it is saying it has the correct EE config. It's now no longer showing 4G Network in places I always used to get it I used to get it. It is just saying 'E' or 'Emergency Calls' only. It will access apps but takes ages and then crashes. Sim is showing 4G in three other phones I have tried it in.

Another symptom I have just noticed is that the phone has started telling me it is overheating when I've only been using it for a few minutes - it is getting pretty hot. I wonder if it is something to do with the new battery that was installed recently?

Welcome to AC!
Who did the battery repair?

If all settings and carrier resets haven't worked, I can only think of checking with a different SIM/network. If that works, you know it's your SIM/line. If that doesn't, chances are there are hardware issues (yes, most likely caused by a battery replacement gone wrong).
