P40 Pro review unit

I got a loan device for review on Thursday. It has been hard for me not having my Google apps. I also use the email app and also YouTube online. Some of the apps I could get from Amazon app store and apkpure. Netflix I got from apkmirror. But it has been hit and miss.

I love the speed and fluidity of this phone. They keyboard being curved around the bottom is annoying. The cameras are fabulous, except night mode. Low light on normal mode is great, but the night mode crushed blacks badly.

night mode is horrible. software patches should fix them up. keep us posted. do take some outdoor shots to text the exposure. specially the clouds and sky.

Hi. To be honest I have put it away in its box. I tried the camera on AI mode and the photos were still quite horrible. I can't use it without the calendar and although it is fast and the screen is beautiful, it just isn't for me.

Can you still use a third party launchers with Huawei phones? I remember reading they were thinking about removing that ability but I believe they never followed through with that.

Hi there. I installed Nova through petal search and it ran. I used default settings and it seemed to work properly. So the answer is that the P40 Pro will run other launchers other than EMUI 10.

Thanks Kizzy, I wonder if the recent updates will have fixed any camera issues since you last used it. Since getting mine i can't fault the camera. Also just so you are aware should you like to try it again if you download the Microsoft Outlook app using petal search it lets you sync your google calendar. I was very happy when i found that out.

She said she used petal search to download Nova Launcher.

I will try the outlook route. Thanks for that information. I do have office 365 for the OneDrive 1TB storage and use office on my chromebook. The calendar thing has annoyed me the most.

OK. Installed and working. Now I have no real complaints. Thanks for that advice. It is really good to share experiences because if anyone else comes along they can read this forum and learn stuff.
I must admit, I really do like the feel of this phone. It feels so premium in the hand. The keyboard going to the base of the phone is quite annoying,, but autocorrect on SwiftKey is pretty accurate and that does help a lot.

I love the speed and fluidity of this phone as well. Compared to my s10+ this phone is like lightning speed. And the screen is just divine.

If I was comparing to the Pixel 4xl this phone is better no doubt. I just think the Samsung extras have spoilt me too much.

I would definitely recommend this phone to anyone who wants out of the google ecosystem but who doesn't want Apple.

These are some of the more recent photos I have taken on the phone. I did these with AI, after the Huawei trainer suggested I try and use it. I must admit I prefer the photos taken without AI. These are decent but a little blurry when you blow them up bigger.
